YAY. Mr Ansell replied to my email. But he seems to have gotten the wrong end of the taiaha.

Thanks Jackson, but I’m not a white supremacist as you seem to think. I just want legal racial equality, and to persuade the government and iwi to stop presenting only one side of our history.

You can hear my side at [his website which I am not going to link to from my site].

John

Ugh. The reason I sat on this for a day and a half was because I have been trying to think up a funny reply. Nothing came.

The more I thought about it the more frustrated I became. It’s hard to poke fun at someone who is an example of Poe’s Law.

For the record I don’t think Mr Ansell is a white supremacist — he doesn’t even have a properly shaved head* — and, in general, I try not to think about Mr Ansell.

I pity him.

I pity people who have such a black and white view of the world, parochial and driven by fear. The Ansells, Prossers, Laws et al who say, and believe, the most hurtful bullshit and spout it like it ain’t no thing.

If you disagree with what Mr Ansell stands for I suggest you email him to tell him what you think. His email is easy enough to find.

*Also I have never seen him cavorting around Kyle Chapman’s backyard wearing a swastika jumper doing Nazi-esque salutes.
