Otago Odyssey (Part 3)

Short rapids 5 minutes walk down from McLean Falls in the Catlins.

A nearly hollow beech tree on the track to Purakaunui Falls.

Looking across to the Royal Albatross Colony from Aromoana.

Me by the sign to the Saddleback Track in Orokonui Ecosanctuary. A truly wonderful piece of paradise just out of Dunedin. I spent almost an hour foraging around off-track trying to hunt down a Tieke that was taunting me with it’s cheeky laugh.

A beautiful Kererū (Hemiphaga novaeseelandiae) perched in the branches. Reminds me of my primary school in New Plymouth — Welbourn Primary — which has a Kererū as its symbol.
