I’m headed back to the United Space School this July to be a mentor for the youths from all over the world who converge on NASA’s Johnson Space Centre in Houston to learn about the wonders of space.
In 2002 I went as the New Zealand representative from New Plymouth Boys’ High School. It was awesome. Got to meet this guy, Scott Kelly, as well as John Young and heaps of other cool-awesome-fun-interesting-smart people.
That’s 16-year-old me at the Flight Director’s chair in the original Mission Control used for the Apollo missions. Tourists were herded through a walkway behind glass above us while we got to sit in the chairs and flip the buttons!
Me flying a shuttle simulator. That was pretty awesome. Until I crashed it, killing the crew in a firey ball of doom.
Shipping out on July 19. Watch here for updates, photos, and fun.
