President Macky

image

Today the new President of Senegal, Macky Sall, was inaugurated here in Dakar. I went down to the outside of the presidential palace. It was a roaring sea of happy people. With the heat and noise it got too much so I withdrew to a cafe to watch coverage on a local station. When Macky started waving from the top of his car on the way in the crowd erupted and he noise was deafening. This was not just a celebration of Mackey but of democracy.

Kiwi in Dakar

Wade gone

image

This gargantuan billboard for (former) President Wade, overlooked the beach and a main motorway in Dakar. Luckily for (incoming) President Mackey, square centimetres of billboard space does not necessarily translate into votes.

Foozeball

These kids were amazing at foozeball. I played a couple of games against them. First to 10. Out of five games I never scored over three in one game.
